BLACK smoke and minor explosions were heard as fire destroyed a garden shed at Westwood Park, Welshpool on Wednesday night.
The fire spread to two separate detached houses.
Six fire appliances were called to the blaze as the area was sealed off.
Fire engines from Welshpool, Montgomery, Llanfyllin and Llanfair Caereinion dealt with the situation.

One neighbour said: "There was thick black smoke shooting up at one point and there were some minor explosions as things in the shed caught fire.
"I ran down the road to check my relatives were ok.
"No-one was hurt as the houseowners were out."
A spokesperson from Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue said: "On Wednesday, May 22, at 7.49pm, crews from Welshpool, Montgomery, Llanfair Caereinion and Llanfyllin attended a fire at properties in Westwood Park, Welshpool.
"The fire had originated in a garden shed and had spread to two separate detached houses. All persons were accounted for but both properties suffered smoke and fire damage.
Firefighters extinguished the fire using six breathing apparatus, three hose reel jets, a thermal imaging camera and small gear.
"The Fire Service left the incident at 10.56pm. "
