Aspiring entrepreneurs in Powys are being invited to a free training programme which organisers say could help them turn their business ideas into reality.

The Pathways to Enterprise programme gets underway this week, delivered by small business experts Robert Owen Community Finance, based in Newtown, with partners PAVO (Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations) and PURPLE shoots.

“We’re really trying to help people with an idea for a business or a community project but really haven’t got the knowledge where to start,” said Jackie Milton of Robert Owen Community Finance.

“You may be thinking about moving from employment to self-employment, or looking to build your confidence after being out of work, or you may simply want to sharpen your skills to help your local community.

“Whatever your motivation, the Pathways programme is the ideal place to explore your ambitions.”

The first workshop in the Pathways to Enterprise programme is called Starting Out In Business and is set to be held on May 22 at the Pryce Jones Building, 17 Old Kerry Road, Newtown from 10am to 2.30pm.

Three other free workshops in the Pathways programme at the same location will follow. On May 29 the workshop will focus on Business Planning Essentials, on June 5 it will offer An introduction to Self-Reliant Groups, and on June 12 the subject will be Fundraising Essentials.
