HUNDREDS of people turned out for a popular family event in a Flintshire town.

Buckley’s annual Fun Day was held in Precinct Way car park and short stay car park – next to the town shopping centre - on Sunday, May 19.

With the rain (thankfully) staying away for the entire day, people took their time to enjoy the range of activities on offer.

The crowd were treated to a chainsaw demonstration and a tree climbing show by the Welsh Axemen, while plenty also gathered around to watch the Xtreme Stunt Team – who pulled off a number of exciting motorcycle tricks and stunts, including dancing!

Live music was also being performed throughout the event, with local musicians Emma B, Jarvis Brothers, Yubaba and Right Turn Clyde appearing on stage.

As well as being able to see those talented acts, people had the chance to browse through around 20 original stalls which sold everything from sweets and treats, to toys and ornaments.

The national Pets As Therapy charity were also in attendance at the Buckley Fun Day, with representatives from Connah’s Quay bringing their dogs Deedee (14) and Ika (8) to put smiles on the faces of passers-by.

The two adorable canines regularly attend hospitals in Holywell, Mold, Wrexham, Chester, Ellesmere Port - and occasionally Alder Hey Hospital - with the simple purpose of making people happy, as they did with youngsters Freya Hammersley and Scarlet Oldfield.

Ika and Deedee weren’t the only animals at the Buckley Fun Day though, with the North Wales Owl Sanctuary also in attendance to offer people the chance to hold some of their rescued owls – including Aqua, the tropical screech owl.
