An equine car boot sale and craft fair in Whixall was brimming with visitors on Sunday.

The event took place at the social centre and saw dozens of people turn out to grab a bargain and purchase some locally produced items.

Carole Newey James, committee member and trustee of the centre, said it was well supported.

She continued: "We are very much a farming community and there are lot of people with horses so we thought we would use that to look for ways to use the centre.

"There's also lots of local crafts here, a lot of people are from the village."

All profits from the event will be put back into the centre with plans to upgrade some areas including the kitchen.

Carole added: "We are very pleased with the turnout – we've already had to go out for more supplies in the kitchen and it's only been an hour!"

This year also marks the 50th year of the hall, which was previously used as a school and once had the church in its grounds.
