AN OSWESTRY business is celebrating after receiving an award for its work in the community.

AICO Ltd., based in Mile End Business Park, was given the award at the recent ASCP Safety and Compliance Awards.

The annual awards recognise businesses in the safety sector, awarding groups for efforts relating to gas safety, safety training, electrical safety and product of the year among many other things.

AICO was recognised for its work in the community with the Community Initiative of the Year award.

Some of the community work conducted by the business throughout the year has included organising charity days, allowing staff the opportunity to complete voluntary work in the area and donating alarms to Scottish Veterans Charity and Helping Bristol’s Homeless.

Neal Hooper, Managing Director said: “We are fortunate to be in the position to be able to support our local and wider communities.

“All Aico staff engage in many activities to support our local and wider communities, whether this be taking part in volunteering or running fundraising activities to raise money for our Charity of the Year.

“Over the last twelve months we have enjoyed building many relationships with community organisations and charities, we know that these relationships will go from strength to strength.”

Jane Pritchard, Aico in the Community Liaison contact, added: “Aico in the Community seeks to support local and national organisations across the UK in areas such as education, business enterprise and volunteering.

“We are honoured to have won this prestigious award and we will continue to support our local and national communities into the future.”

The group has also been named as a finalist in three different categories for the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards 2019.
