Dementia Friendly Oswestry aim to bring about changes in the way people view dementia, so that people affected by the disease remain fully engaged in their usual activities and roles.

A coffee morning will be held at Qube, Oswestry on Tuesday, May 21 from 11.30am until 1pm followed an awareness event at Sainsbury's on Thursday, May 23 from 10am until 3pm.

And on Friday, May 24 the group will hold and information session at Oswestry Library at 2pm on how to make Oswestry dementia friendly, as the group are looking for people to become 'dementia friends'.

Val Brown, of Dementia Friendly Oswestry, said: "Dementia Friendly Oswestry is a way of getting organisations, small and large, to take action to make it easier for people living with dementia to remain active and involved in their communities.

"We also want to increase understanding of what dementia is, and to reduce the fear and stigma surrounding dementia."
