A CRAFT fair to fundraise for an Oswestry group took place over the weekend.

Oswestry Scout Group put an array of handmade crafts on sale for visitors as they aim to raise funds to travel to Norway.

While they are there, they hope to achieve their Chief Scout Award, which is the highest award they are able to achieve in scouting.

The group is aiming to raise £5,000 to cover the cost of 27 scouts and explorers hoping to make the trip.

Louise Ridgers, Oswestry Scout Group leader, said: “We had plenty of crafts and other things on sale for people, from cakes to homemade tie-dye T-shirts.

“It was a very good event to hold – this was our second event and we’re just short of £800 yet so there’s a long way to go but we’re continuing to work towards our target.

“We have other events coming up including a bike-a-thon and a dinner and entertainment night with an auction.

“So there’s lots going on.”Most months we have something going on which is exciting.

“We have two years to complete the fundraising.”, so hopefully we can do what is needed for our group to be standing proud at Windsor in two years time.”
