A NUMBER of businesses in Oswestry have spoken out after they were all subjected to acts of vandalism.

The Salop Fish Bar, Oswestry Kebab House and Beauty by Jade were all struck on Wednesday, April 24.

Police confirmed they were called at around 1.30am on Wednesday, April 24 to reports that a window of a commercial premises in Salop Road, Oswestry, had been smashed.

CCTV footage from the three incidents show a man entering the stores.

A post online from the Salop Fish Bar read: "CCTV from both our cameras and those of neighbouring businesses have been given to the police which clearly identify him. Apparently he has been trying doors and entering premises all over town.

"At the time of the incident he was wearing a light coloured tracksuit hoodie, matching tracksuit bottoms and white trainers. He was also carrying an object with which he used to smash the glass.

"If anyone has any more information that may help convict please let the police know.

"We are now in the sad situation where we will be reviewing whether to carry on supporting Midlands Air Ambulance and Wales Air Ambulance with collection boxes in the future.”

Meanwhile, beauty shop owner Jade Lewis was left frustrated after a man entered her salon and made away with the money box used as a till in the salon.

She said: “I wasn’t here on the day of the incident, but another member of staff was doing a treatment.

“When I came in the following morning, my money box where I store any payments wasn’t here.

“When we checked the cameras back, we saw someone had come in and gone behind the desk, taken the money box and ran out of the shop with it.

“Luckily, I had cashed up for the day, so there wasn’t a large amount of money in it. It’s just frustrating that someone would invade somebody else’s personal space like that.

“There was only spare change of about £8 in the box, but it had all my invoices and card receipts which is the annoying thing.

“It is annoying and frustrating because you work hard to earn your money, and yet there’s always the risk of someone coming along and trying to take it away from you like that.

“It’s not good at all really.

“It could have been a lot worse, they could’ve taken a whole days wages.”

The beautician insists more security and a bell for the door will be purchased for the salon to increase safety.
