An EASTER tradition was continued in Whitchurch this holiday when representatives from across the churches joined together.

More than 25 people joined with the Reverend Rob Weir as he delivered sermons from different points in Whitchurch before the Easter celebrations as part of the Churches Together procession of Witness starting from Tesco supermarket.

One member of the group, Tim O'Keefe carried a cross to represent Jesus Christ's journey to the Crucifixion, into White Lion Meadow, onto Watergate and then into the High Street.

Rev Edmund Montgomery gave a reading at White Lion Meadow car park to the gathered crowd.

The event marked the start of the festivities across the town for the religious celebrations, including Easter Sunday services and on Good Friday, there was Prayers at the Foot of the Cross in Holy Immanuel, Fauls.

On Maundy Thursday, there was a service hosted by the Beacon Church for Churches Together in the Dodington Lodge Hotel, in Dodington, while there was also a service at Christ Church in Tilstock.
