AN ARTIST whose work is regularly on show at an Oswestry gallery hopes to raise funds to help those with brain disorders.

Daniel Yeomans – whose work has graced Willow Gallery – aims to raise funds for neurological research through the sale of a painting that has been entered in the Jackson’s Open Painting Prize.

The Montgomery-based landscape and portrait painter's work, entitled ‘Dystonia & Me; The Renaissance of Self’, depicts former RAF serviceman Tim Edmunds, who has the disorder.

Daniel plans to raise funds for research into the condition, which causes the muscles to contract uncontrollably.

The causes are unknown and, although treatment can help, it is usually a lifelong problem.

Daniel’s portrait of Tim has the first round of judging for the competition.

A spokesman for Willow Gallery said: "In the meantime if readers like the portrait, perhaps they would take a minute to vote for it as the People’s Choice.

"This will help to get the painting the recognition it deserves and stand Daniel in good stead to sell the portrait to raise money for neurological research into illnesses such as Tim’s."
