CLASSICAL music enthusiasts can enjoy an evening in the company of a charismatic string quartet.

Carducci String Quartet will perform at the Gateway, Shrewsbury on Tuesday, April16 with guest pianist Peter Caelen.

Kate Hogwood, director of the Shropshire Music Trust, said: “This concert will be an exploration of Saint Saens’ youthful and romantic Piano Quintet of 1855, with brilliant Dutch pianist Peter Caelen, alongside early quartet masterpieces by Beethoven and Britten. There will be drinks in the Interval with the Carduccis.

"This will be a superb evening’s enjoyment with great musicianship by this renowned string quartet. Simply sublime”.

This is the second in the Anglo-Irish quartet's Romantic String Quintets Series with the final one being on Sunday, May 12 at Prestfelde School with guest pianist Simon Callaghan.

Their programme of music will consist of Beethoven Op.18 No.5; Britten Quartet No.1 and Saint Saens Piano Quintet
