Prees United 0

Gobowen Celtic 0

Gobowen Celtic had to share the points in their last league fixture of the season as they were held to a goalless draw away at Prees United.

Celtic had top-four aspirations before the game, and a win would have seen them briefly jump over Prees into fourth but they finish a solid season in fifth spot, despite a slow start.

Prees remain fourth after drawing a blank in the keenly-contested north Shropshire derby at the Rec Ground.

In one of the two games in the league on the day, involving all three north Shropshire sides, Prees were hoping to move to within a point of Madeley Sports in third place, with two games in hand, but were cancelled out by the Green and Whites.

Celtic came close when Ben Carter went through on goal but missed from close-range.

Press now have a double header of clashes to bottom side Brown Clee, who lost 3-1 away to St Martins Village on Saturday, starting with Saturday’s home clash at the Rec Ground (3pm).

Meanwhile, Shrewsbury Juniors’ coronation as league champions is expected to take place on Saturday, as they travel to take on Albrighton (3pm) in their final league fixture.
