Spring was in the air and there was a Spring Fair in Oswestry on Saturday.

The Macmillan Oswestry Support Group held its fair at the Memorial Hall in Smithfield Street on Saturday morning, offering a raffle, craft stalls and refreshments.

Margery James MBE, chair of the support group, said turnout was low to begin with but people soon streamed in to give their support.

"It was a slow start to the day but it soon picked up as the day went along," said Mrs James.

"We always have lots of people and all here on the stalls to help us and I would like to thank them.

"We had all the usual stalls – people always try to support us as much as they can. I would like to thank everybody who has donated things for the stalls and for the raffle too.

"I ask people to continue to support us through the year and it's always great to have that support.

"Our next event is a quiz at the Spring Lamb in Shrewsbury Road on May 8, starting at 7.30 for a 7.45pm start. maximum four in a team and it's £10 per team."
