A RIDING centre for the disabled near Oswestry is set to receive a major cash boost.

Perry RDA in Nobold, Baschurch has received a £180,416 National Lottery Community Fund grant for facilities at its new Cavalier Centre.

The funding will be used to enhance the facilities for people with disabilities, their parents and carers and community groups.

As a result there will be more equine therapy activities and volunteering opportunities.

A new indoor centre has recently been built so that different types of activities are available such as cricket, archery and vaulting.

A total of 20 community projects across the county are receiving a share of a £600,000 fund.

Matt Poole, senior head of regional funding for the Midlands at the National Lottery Community Fund, said: “National Lottery money continues to change the lives of thousands of people across the West Midlands. From community-led projects that reduce loneliness and isolation to those looking at ways of tackling bullying amongst young people, this quarter’s funding has one thing in common – it’s all been awarded to groups with the ideas, knowledge and passion to make the changes they want to see in their local area."
