A GROUP that is looking to offer a helping hand to vulnerable people on the streets of Oswestry at weekends is set to ask town councillors to provide funding.
Tony Durnell, co-founder of Shropshire Street Angels’ Oswestry group, is due to speak to the Markets and Town Centre Committee tomorrow (Wednesday).
The group made an application to the finance and General Purposes Committee in December, but councillors were not prepared to made a decision at the time due to a lack of information.
They invited Mr Durnell to give a presentation because of a lack of information.
The Street Angels want to help people get over the effects of drugs or alcohol, offer first aid or, when necessary, removed vulnerable people to a safe place – as well as getting people home safely.
The committee will meet at 7pm.
