PLANS for more CCTV to cover an Oswestry park are set to be discussed.

Arren Roberts, assistant clerk to Oswestry Town Council, said that there had been "one or two" antisocial behaviour incidents at Cae Glas Park.

Cae Glas Park Managment Group has proposed installing a camera at a cost of more than £3,600 on the nearby Bellan House canteen.

He added: "The reason for the CCTV is to make sure the park looks good and is safe for people to come to."

Mr Roberts said there had been minor incidents in the park and added: "We want to make sure we have good coverage."

The Development and Planning Committee will this evening Wednesday, March 13) discuss the proposal to install a camera on the Gable end of the Bellan House canteen.

In a report to the council, Mr Roberts said: "It is felt that this would provide a wide coverage of the park including the bandstand and Oswestry School (as hosts) have supported the proposal as there are mutual benefits."

A quote of £3,629.58 has been obtained from ORP Surveillance, which covers installation costs, a radio link to the system and a three year warranty.

Cae Glas Park Management Group discussed and agreed the proposal in February, but councillors must consider their recommendation as the group has no delegated powers.
