YOUNG writers had the chance to show their creative skills in a competition.
Oswestry Borderland Rotary Club organised the Young Writer competition and entries were received in both the Intermediate (11 - 13 years old) and the Senior (14 -17) age groups.
The theme for this year's competition was 'My Inspiration' and pupils from The Marches School, Oswestry School, and St Martins School put pen to paper and the judges were presented with some highly creditable and imaginative stories.
This year the winning entries were both from The Marches School; Ella Crowther won the Intermediate section while Daisy Whitelam won the Senior Competition.
Daisy also received the John Cranwell Award which is to recognise literary excellence and is named in memory of a club member.
The entries from Daisy and Ella will now progress to the District Competition and we await the results with interest.
