A NEW campaign aims to highlight power safety to north Shropshire youngsters.

SP Energy Networks has launched its first PowerWise Month to help children understand how electricity is generated and distributed – and how to stay safe with energy at home, school or outside.

Stephen Stewart, director at SP Energy Networks, said: “We are delighted to be launching our first ever PowerWise Month to encourage children in North Shropshire to learn about the importance of staying safe around electricity. It’s an opportunity for every family in the community to take on the PowerWise challenge.

“Through PowerWise, children have access to learn about vital safety advice not only at school, but also in the home. It’s important to us that families are aware of the dangers of electricity as well as knowing what to do during a powercut. In the event of a power cut, call SP Energy Networks on 105.”

SP Energy Networks owns and manages overhead and underground powerlines in North Shropshire, Cheshire, Merseyside, North Wales and Southern and Central Scotland.

Parents in North Shropshire can visit powerwise.org.uk and challenge their children to take on a 'safety mission'.

There is a mission to suit every child with challenges ranging from designing a comic strip to recording a podcast.
