LOVE was in the air at Llanymynech Golf Club as members turned out for the annual Valentine’s Day competition.
Participants, who were not permitted to compete in the doubles competition alongside their real-life partner, had to swap husbands and wives for the afternoon to acquire a partner for the day.
This year’s competition fell on Valentine’s Day itself and was enjoyed by a large number of members who came along.
After a delayed start due to fog covered parts of the course, the couples were able to make their way to the tees for a shotgun start to get proceedings underway.
A competitive afternoon of golf resulted in Norma Hughes and partner for the day Nik Roberts taking top spot with a win on countback with 42 points.
Also, on 42 points in second place were Allen Lewis and Mal Beckett, followed by Ann Garbett and Phil Jones in third place with 40 points.
The competition was followed by a two-course meal and a presentation for the prize winners at the clubhouse.
Club member Janice Stanistreet said: “It is tradition to hold this competition at our club each year and it is always a great success.
“This year saw very good entry from members and from the buzz in the clubhouse it was obvious the day had been a great success.”
