OSWESTRY Olympians rounded off their cross-country season with their final race in Oswestry.

The course at Oswestry School proved a challenge for members of clubs from around North Wales and Shropshire.

Team and individual medals were up for grabs on a cold day, and the Olympians stepped up to the challenge competing well in a large field of runners.

Ali Lavender was crowned Ali Lavender was crowned Ladies’ Champion for the fourth time, while Vic McConnell came first female over 60 after four wins in the series.

Charlotte Jones came fist in the female over 40s category to top off the series wins for the club.

Susie Hancock and Yvonne Hill were also medallists in their age categories. The Ladies finished second overall in the team event and were also the second master’s team.

Tom Wilde topped off a great first seniors’ season by finishing second in the under-20s category.

Jon Hancock took second in the men’s 65s category.

There were also third place medals for Steve Roberts, Matthew Collins and Tom Heard in their categories.

The club gave their thanks at the end of the event to team manager Margaret Morris to all club members who helped set up the course, marshal and provide refreshments for runners after the race.
