Pupils from a Cheshire school showed off their creative skills including a snowy picture shoot for a competition.

The students from Shocklach Oviatt, off Green Lane, wrapped up warm to venture into the snow for pictures taken by Julie Adams with their instruments, which they played in a video for a competition organised by Chester Cathedral.

The music was created to be played alongside words and poetry created by the pupils and for Finola Jackson, from the school, said they were delighted to take part.

"We were invited to take part in the 2019 Canon Chancellor Awards run by Chester Cathedral," she said.

"This year’s theme was 'Creation' and we were challenged to express this through the medium of poetry and music.

"The children wrote some incredible poetry including a rap with the powerful message that we all have a duty to love, respect, nurture and treasure both our planet and the people in it.

"Our submission was a very creative one whereby the children not only wrote the poetry but they composed music to the lyrics and played their cellos and violins.

"A special video was recorded one very snowy day and our school was the perfect setting – idyllic in the snow!

"The photos capture the excitement on the day."
