Oswestry's Memorial Hall played host to a dating game with a difference on Saturday as visitors were hioping to meet a mate of a different sort.

Hector's Greyhound Rescue held a special event to raise funds for the charity but to also introduce potential owners for the dogs they are currently looking after.

Hayley Bradley, founder of hector's greyhound Racing, was delighted with how it went.

She said: "It got a lot busier from around 11am onward and it was great to see so many people here. People have come to the event looking for a dog for themselves and I think we've re-homed three of them this afternoon.

"It's a nice, informal and relaxing way to come and see and see the dogs, and it's easy for them too. We never put pressure on people to re-home dogs.

"We've had a lot of pressure on us since Christmas, with three dogs abandoned on the A5 and another rescued by police too.

"But if anyone missed out on coming to the event, they can still get in touch with us via out website or on our Facebook page.

"I want to thank everyone that came who supported us."
