A SCHOOL near Oswestry has been recognised for its community creative arts projects the 'education Oscars'.

Moreton Hall was among the nominees in the Whole School Community Initiative category at the TES Awards in London, in recognition of work with primary and secondary schools around the area.

The school did not win, but vice-principal Carolyn Tilley, who represented Moreton Hall at the said: “To be shortlisted with some of the country’s leading schools, many of them in the south of England, was a real testament to the long- established links between Moreton Hall and its local community.

"The Holroyd Community Theatre will play a vital part in continuing to foster these exciting Creative Arts opportunities for our young people and as a school, we are very excited that Moreton Hall is a part of this.”

Of the awards, a Moreton Hall spokesman added: It was also a tribute to the work of North Shropshire Music, the North Shropshire ‘Big Sing’, and the Face2Face Performance Academy, all of whom will be making full use of the Holroyd Community Theatre which is currently under construction in the grounds of Moreton Hall."
