A MIX of Songs from the Shows at an Ellesmere College concert has raised £2100 for Age UK North Shropshire Supporters and St Mary's Church, Ellesmere.

The concert featured the choirs and soloists of Ellesmere College, the Choral Society and the Porthywaen Silver Band performing songs from both the older well-loved musicals but also more recent shows including Wicked and Avenue Q.

Highlights of the concert included Ollie Williams performing If I Were a Rich Man from Fiddler on the Roof, and Lizzie Martin singing The Man I Love from Lady be Good.

Members of the audience had the opportunity to join in the fun with sing-a-longs from West Side Story and Les Miserables.

Anne Wignall, president of Age UK Shropshire Telford & Wrekin, said: "This was a wonderful concert with music of a very high standard. We are so grateful to everyone who contributed to the success of the evening, and thank Ellesmere College for sponsoring the concert.

"Thanks also to members of the audience who braved the elements to support this event on a cold winter's night. This was our eighth Midwinter Concert and the talent on show gets better and better every year."

Ellesmere College Choral Society will perform Handel's Messiah on Saturday, March 23.
