It was a busy morning as the Chirk Hospital Circle of Friends hosted a rummage sale.

The Parish Hall was filled with items - from clothes and kitchenware, to stationery and toiletries - that had been donated by members of the public and local businesses.

And there were plenty taking the opportunity to warm up with a tea and a chat.

Sybil Jones, chairman of the Circle of Friends, said: "We've had a good turnout despite the weather - I think there was a bit of snow this morning in the valley which has stopped a few from joining us.

"But we've still done really well.

"It is great to see the community spirit. Many of these people like to have a catch up with a warm drink.

"We've got one more rummage sale next month and then we will give a lot of items that aren't sold to the Welsh Air Ambulance, so nothing is wasted."

The rummage sale comes as the Circle of Friends prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary.

All proceeds from the event will go to maintain services at the hospital.
