The New Saints boss Scott Ruscoe admits he hopes to make one more addition ahead of this week's January transfer window deadline on Thursday.

TNS acquired the services of centre-back Jack Bodenham from Cardiff City last week to replace Ben Cabango, who returned to parent club Swansea City.

Ruscoe admits they have one signing lined before Thursday's deadline and that the club will do all they can to get it done.

'We're looking to bring one more in – we're having discussions over the weekend and hopefully we can get one more body in before the deadline," he said.

"Negotiations have been going on a while and it's an attacking option. Jack is our defensive option as Ben returned to Swansea so we've gone like-for-like.

"We needed to freshen up in another area so hopefully that will be it. Come Thursday, I expect us to have the player and it's 80/85 per cent done.

"We'll never say never on outgoings but I would like to keep the shape of that squad together. We have players out on loan already."

Saints are in fine form – winning five straight games in league and cup and keeping clean sheets in each of them – having come off the back of the worst spell in Ruscoe's time at the club, but he insists their recent performances didn't change his thinking.

He added: "We were always looking to add to the squad.

"We nearly had a player in recently but we would have played for three clubs already this season (which is banned by FIFA) so that was ruled out.

"We've made offers for other players that didn't work and we've had targets that for some reason, we didn't go for.

"We have a list of players that we might wait until the summer or it just hasn't happened."
