A MONTGOMERYSHIRE-based anti-pylon group has donated funds towards a campaign that is protesting against plans to build a windfarm at a Radnorshire beauty spot.

Montgomeryshire Against Pylons presented a cheque for £1,000 to the Campaign for the Protection of Rural Wales (CPRW) Brecon and Radnor branch to help with legal costs to prevent Hendy Wind Farm from going ahead.

The money was raised from donations to Montgomeryshire Against Pylons’ campaign against the expanding energy infrastructure in Mid Wales in the early 2010s.

Jonathan Wilkinson, chairman of MAP, said: “We in MAP are fighting this because it will set a precedent and could be repeated anywhere in Powys or indeed Wales, destroying one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world at the developer’s whim.

“If this is an indication of the Welsh Government’s intentions, and it was in their power, they would give the National Grid Mid Wales connection project the go-ahead.”

He added: “We commend the people of Llandegley Common for their courage in fighting this illegal juggernaut.”
