Hollywood star Omid Djalili is coming to Whitchurch next week – and will draw the biggest crowd ever for a live event at the town’s Civic Centre.

The Iranian comic will head a stellar bill of stand-up on Saturday January 26 for the second instalment of “Live At The Civic” brought to the town by Funny Beeseness.

Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo star Milton Jones headed up the first one in November for a show which in itself set a new record for the biggest crowd at the venue in High Street.

But the Djalili show has already gone past that with nearly 400 tickets now sold, with only around 40 remaining for anyone still wishing to go.

Support on the night will come from two of stand-up’s fastest rising stars in the shape of Stephen Bailey and Rosie Jones, while it will be hosted by Wayne Beese.

Beese said: “We can’t wait to come back to Whitchurch.

“The first show with Milton was absolutely brilliant, the town really came out and supported it and we were stunned to set a new record for the highest-ever attendance.

“They’ve come out and supported it again with Omid, to break the record again for the second show is incredible. We will need to extend the venue at this rate.

“In all seriousness, we’d really like to thank everyone who has bought tickets so far. They’re in for an absolutely cracking night, and we’ve still got a few tickets left for anyone else who wants to come and join us.”

Tickets start from £18.50 and are available at www.funnybeeseness.co.uk. Doors and bar open at 7pm, with the show starting around 8pm.

Meanwhile, 'potcast' stars Angelos Epithemiou and Barry from Watford will headline at the Civic on Saturday March 9, with tickets also on sale for that show from £12.
