AN OSWESTRY surveyor and expert on rural dispute resolution is now sharing his expertise and experience as a guest lecturer at Harper Adams University.

Philip Meade of Oswestry-based Davis Meade Property Consultants has been invited to lecture on arbitration to post graduates this month and to undergraduates in March.

Philip is chairman of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors’ (RICS) Dispute Resolution Standards Working Group and technical author of its guidance note for Rural Arbitration.

He has also been asked by national CPD providers MBL Seminars Limited to lead a seminar and webinar on rural arbitration for legal professionals, surveyors and accountants being held in London on February 11.

“This will be a one-day course to help professionals involved with rural property familiarise themselves with arbitration and gain the confidence to get involved,” Philip said.

“I firmly believe that demystifying the process can often be the most effective way to resolve disputes because understanding that process will help the parties involved appreciate how an arbitrator makes his award, which in turn can assist in finding ways of resolving the dispute without actually going to a hearing, thus saving costs and time all round,” he added.
