Members of Whittington and Oswestry Young Farmers Club enjoyed a successful fundraising festive season.

The club helped raise funds for their own selected charities as well as joining with one of the town's Rotary clubs to help their fundraising ventures.

David Kempster, president at the YFC, was delighted with their efforts and is hoping for an even better 2019.

“Whittington and Oswestry YFC have had a busy month," he said.

"Two evenings of carol singing in the Oswestry area raised £635.36 for Lingen Davis Cancer Fund, Shropshire RABI and Air Ambulance.

"A big thank you to everyone who supported the members.

"Also, working with fellow charitable organisation, we helped Oswestry Cambrian Rotary Club with their Father Christmas Sleigh Run around Morda, collecting £270 going door to door for local causes.

"We also took part in Oswestry Borderlands Christmas Parade, helping to raise a total of £2698.41.

"Just before Christmas we had the Annual Christmas Dinner at Oswestry Rugby Club which was a great success.

"In the new year we will be starting practicing for the Entertainments Competition.

"Shropshire Young Farmers Club will be performing at Whitchurch Civic Centre between February 20-23.

"We’re hoping for a win again this year.

"A big thank you to everyone who has helped us over the last 12 months and look forward to your continued support.”
