AN AUTHOR has donated copies of her book to a children's cancer ward.

Toni Sian Williams delivered 25 copies of The Ironbridge Ogre to the children's oncology ward at the Princess Royal Hospital in Telford

She donated the books – created to celebrated the hospital's 50th anniversary – to The Harry Johnson Trust for the children on the ward.

Sally Johnson, for The Harry Johnson Trust, joined Toni to deliver the books to children’s play practitioner Lisa Harries and teacher Tracey Caldicott at the ward.

Toni said: “What I wanted to do was produce a book that would allow me to be able to give something back. So I thought I would donate £1 from every book sold to local charities. For the next few months, that charity will be The Harry Johnson Trust. From the smallest of items to individual tailored support, the Trust gives so much love in so many countless ways for families going through these difficult times.

“Over the next few months we will be working with Sally and hoping to raise as much as possible to go towards the Trust. We have also donated 25 books for them to give out to children on the Oncology Ward.”

Sally said: “We are so grateful to Toni for choosing The Harry Johnson Trust. Every bit of help we receive goes on to help the children who are undergoing treatment for cancer on the oncology unit, and their families.”

Lisa Gilks, children’s oncology ward manager at SaTH, said: “We would like to thank Toni for this lovely donation of books for the children on our ward. It is a wonderful gesture, and the children will be absolutely delighted to receive one.”
