ELLESMERE Methodist Church has been displaying Christmas trees alongside the aisles in their Church this weekend.

The church held its annual Christmas Tree Festival which invites people in the community to design and make their own Christmas trees to be displayed over the weekend.

Trees are decorated by businesses and residents in Ellesmere for people to enjoy as Christmas gets closer.

Organised by Reverend Stella Long, Joyce Williams and other members of the church, the purpose of the event is to spread joy in the community.

Mrs Williams said: “We all helped to get the event together and the trees are decorated by the people and businesses of the area, so they also help to make it happen.

“All the trees are very different, and they all represent different things that people do and different businesses.

“We do it mainly because it’s a nice way of bringing people in the community together and bringing them into the church and offering them the space to display their art.

“It allows people to use their creative talents to bring joy and pleasure to others. We offer them the space to do that.

“It offers something for everyone, and we offer refreshments for everyone who comes along. It’s a chance to come together in the spirit of Christmas which we hope can bring peace and happiness.”

This is the fourth Christmas Tree Festival held by the church, and Mrs Williams is happy with its success.

She added: “We measure the success on what people get from coming here and looking at the display of trees.

“People come along and leave here happy and seem to really enjoy it, which s what we’re aiming for.

“It’s the same with the flower festival we hold here – we give people the space to display their art and their efforts make others happy.”
