Community groups and projects based in south Montgomeryshire and north Radnorshire are being encouraged to apply for their share of a wind farm benefit fund.

Every year during the lifetime of Garreg Lwyd Hill Wind Farm, situated between Felindre and Llanbadarn Fynydd, a community fund has been made available to provide help and support for local community projects.

Groups and projects that benefit communities in the Beguildy, Bettws y Crwyn, Kerry, Llanbister and Llanbadarn Fynydd Community Council areas could benefit from grants worth up to £500 and over.

Projects that received funding from the latest funding round included new blouses for a ladies’ choir, new windows for a Baptist church, equipment for an indoor bowling group and a defibrillator, cabinet and training for the community.

The fund has grants available for community projects that must be capable of benefitting the wider community. The deadline for applications for the next round of funding is 5pm on Monday, December 17.
