Former Conservative Party Leader William Hague and his wife, Ffion, opened the Christmas fair and children’s enterprise for Ysgol Pontrobert.

Every year KS2 pupils create a business out of £2 and sell their wares at the Christmas fair.

Products range from cakes to crafts to decorations. This year the fair was opened by Lord and Lady Hague, of Cyfronydd.

The pupils’ businesses were judged by Mrs Hilary Jones and this year the best stall award went to Frank Lloyd who produced Christmas signs.

William Hague even bought one of his signs saying “Brexit – this way!”

The pupils made a profit of more than £500 of which half will be given to a charity of their choice and the other half will go towards buying new products for the school, again chosen by the children.
