Residents at an Oswestry care home came together to bring themselves and others some festive cheer with a Christmas fair on Saturday.

Tenants at the Ashwood Care Home, in Alexandra Road, Oswestry, ran the stalls in the main entrance of his modern home, with some even selling their own homemade goods.

There were cakes and preserves as well as a raffle which allowed guests to take home some high-standard prizes.

Scheme manager Teresa Tudor was delighted with how the event went, believing it is vital for the residents to have control over what they do at the home.

“The turnout has been brilliant,” she said. “We had a summer fair which also went well but this turnout, especially with the heavy rain, has been great.

“Days like this are really important for the residents. It helps raise money for their social fund – all the money donated will go towards their days out and other activities for the year.

“For the residents, it helps maintain their independence and gives them sense of community; a sense of importance.

“They all came to get involved and are very proud of the home they live in.”
