A FEAST of festive fun was enjoyed by large crowds at an annual Oswestry event.

Revellers enjoyed a wealth of attractions at Oswestry Christmas Live.

Attractions at Friday’s event – which was organised by Oswestry Town Council – included live music, an ice rink, amusement rides, Santa’s grotto, late night shopping and Christmas stalls.

Mayor of Oswestry, Councillor Sandy Best, hailed the event a success.

“It was absolutely fantastic. That’s almost an understatement,” she said.

“Walking around the town, not just as a person in the street but as mayor of the town, I was just absolutely bursting with pride at what we do because for us a town of this size to put on an event like that and see the thousands of people that come in, the kids and families, their faces light up.”

Cllr Best also highlighted the benefits to shops and other businesses, adding that the market building was “heaving”.

The ice rink raised more than £400 for the mayor’s charity fund.

Festivities ended with fireworks at Cae Glas Park.
