Fire Tones singer and Oswestry firefighter Kev Williams has said the group has been 'humbled by support'.

The Fire Tones, a group of firefighters from across the country, released their charity single 'Do They Know It's Christmas' at the end of last week.

Money raised from the single will go towards the Firefighters Charity and Band Aid Charity Trust.

Kev, who has been at Oswestry Fire Station for 26 years, said the response to the release has been amazing.

"We are humbled by the fantastic support," he said.

"The first chart was released on Friday and for physical CD sales we hit number two.

"For download sales we hit number 39, but the final chart position is also made up of streams from sites like YouTube and Spotify.

"When you are competing with the likes of Arianna Grande who had over a million hits in 34 minutes it is hard.

"So far our YouTube video has hit over 90K views, which is amazing.

"This week we really need to push more people towards YouTube now and get as many people streaming as possible."

The Fire Tones received support from Oswestry football club The New Saints, when the CD was launched at Park Hall before the team kicked off against Cardiff Met.

Kev was also at the Christmas Live event on Friday promoting the charity single.

"Friday night was very good – we did well with CD sales," he added.

"There are still a lot of people who don't know about the song so the more exposure now the better."

Fire Tones charity single is available to buy on CD, and download and online orders are available from Amazon, iTunes and HMV.
