A TEMPORARY power blackout in some Wrexham villages has been blamed on a power outage.

The fault - which happened at around 7.30pm on Tuesday with power restored in most areas about an hour and a quarter later - plunged several areas of the LL14 postcode into darkness, including Rhostyllen and some areas of Ponciau.

Several Rhostyllen residents took to Twitter to voice their complaints.

In a statement online before the lights went back on, ScottishPower (SP Energy Network) said: “There is a unplanned power cut in the LL14 area of Wrexham.

“This has been caused by a fault on our overhead line network and is affecting properties in Wrexham Road, Summerfields, High Street and surrounding areas.

“Our control centre will attempt to reset the network remotely and our emergency response team are on their way to site to investigate and repair the fault.

“We expect power to be back on by 9.45pm and will make every effort to contact you if the situation changes.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.”
