A MURDER mystery drama and a former soap star entertained guests at a fundraising dinner.

Iscoyd Park welcomed 100 guests for an event in aid of the Holroyd Community Theatre, which is under construction at Moreton Hall School, near Oswestry.

West End star and former Eastenders actress Charlie Brooks was guest speaker at the event.

Parents, Old Moretonians, and friends of the school were treated to a performance of A Midwinter Murder by Moreton Hall drama students.

Guests enjoyed a dinner prepared by Iscoyd Park's Michelin-trained head chef, David Cox, before listening to Miss Brooks.

She told the audience: "My local community theatre was where it all began for me, this really important place impacted my life more than I could have ever imagined. "Not only did it open my eyes to a whole new world but also became a safe place for me to go and be brave, increase my selfesteem, my self-confidence and essentially be free."

The aim is that, when completed, the theatre will be a hub for creative arts in the area.
