Construction work at a large apartment block on the site of a former school has begun.

Anwyl Construction started building the £8.5m extra-care facility on Halkyn Street, Holywell, on the former Ysgol Perth-Terfyn site in July 2018.

This week, Anwyl released new construction pictures, plus a video which shows a sneak peek to the new 55-room building.

The plans for the build consist of a four-storey structure, encompassing 43 one-bedroom and 12 two-bedroomed apartments. The Holywell Extra Care Development will provide 24 hour support for its residents, including dementia care.

This is the second extra care housing development in Flintshire for Anwyl and Wales & West Housing, following the Llys Jasmine project completed in 2013.

Councillor Christine Jones, Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Services said: “This is another great step forward for our latest extra care scheme in Flintshire.

"With the Council working in partnership together with Wales & West Housing Association and Anwyl Construction, we are all looking forward to seeing this scheme come to fruition.

"The new facility in Holywell will provide excellent facilities to make a real difference to residents’ lives.”
