A THEATRE company is bringing drama to Oswestry with new classes for children.

Poppy King, who runs The Drama Forge, has been hosting drama classes at the British Ironwork Centre since last year and is now starting new classes at the Memorial Hall in Oswestry.

The classes are for children aged six to 16, and Poppy is hoping to introduce a class for little ones.

Poppy is a drama graduate from Bath Spa University and admits she is 'drama obsessed'.

"I thought it would be great to start come classes in the centre of town to give children a better opportunity of getting involved," said Poppy, from Oswestry.

"I've done drama projects at the Ironworks Centre and a few school clubs, but it's great that we're able to now say we have a studio base in the middle of town."

The Drama Forge has taken part in Shakespearian projects and nationwide competitions and teaches a wide range of drama techniques as well as singing and dancing.

"I've tailored my classes to what my students want," continued Poppy.

"Recently they've been obsessed with The Greatest Showman, so we've been doing circus workshops and musical theatre to ensure that the children are learning what interests them."

The new Drama Forge classes start on Thursday, November 23 at the Memorial Hall for ages six to 11 taking place from 4pm to 5.30pm. On Fridays, classes take place at The British Ironwork Centre for ages six to 11 from 4.15 to 5.45pm and on Saturday at the centre from 10.30am to 12.30pm for ages six to 11, and 1pm to 3pm for ages 12 to 16.

Classes are £6 to £6.50 per class, with block booking and sibling discount available.
