More than a hundred members, friends and family of Whittington & Oswestry Young Farmers Club enjoyed a spectacular firework show, raising hundreds of pounds for charity in the meantime.

The club’s ‘Fireworks & Bonfire Night’ saw plenty of bangs and whizzes into the Oswestry night sky, and helped raise £120.17 for the club’s three charities: Shropshire RABI, Air Ambulance and the Lingen Davies Cancer Fund.

Club chairman Alice Roberts was delighted was how the event went and she is looking forward to joining more clubs in the area as the Christmas season draws nearer.

She said: "Every year Whittington and Oswestry YFC host a free 'Bonfire & Fireworks Night' for its members, friends and family.

"Hosted by The Roberts Family at Buckley Farm, Maesbury – we saw over 100 attendees enjoy the display, homemade soup and cakes, raising £120.17 for our three charities, Shropshire RABI, Lingen Davies Cancer Fund and Air Ambulance.

"We’ll be continuing our charitable efforts over the festive season, with carol singing, Oswestry Christmas Parade and for the first time we’ll be joining Oswestry Rotary Club on their Sleigh tours."

Meanwhile, the club is holding it’s annual dance at the Park Hall pavilion on November 23 with entry costing £10 for members and £15 for non-members.

The entry is strictly for over-16s with under-18s holding a current NFYFC membership card and no under-16s from Cheshire members. Anyone aged under he age of 18 must have a parental consent form.
