THE last service has been held at St Ffraid’s Church in Glyn Ceiriog.
St Ffraid’s closed its doors for the last time on Sunday, October 28, after serving the parish since it was rebuilt in 1838.
The special service attended by 40 people was conducted by the Bishop of St Asaph, the Right Reverend Gregory Cameron, assisted by the Archdeacon of Montgomery, the Venerable Dr Barry Wilson and the Reverend Phil Carey.
The closure leaves Glyn Ceiriog without a church and worshippers must now make a decision on whether to make the two-mile trip down to St John’s Church at Pontfadog or travel six miles up the Ceiriog Valley to St Garmons Church at Llanarmon DC.
Churchwarden Jean Payne said: “The church committee would like to thank all those who have supported the church both now and throughout the years.”
The future of the building has not yet been decided.
