A HUMBLE chip recipe has earned an Oswestry woman a culinary prize.
Charlotte Cauldwell won a competition to name her family’s favourite meal as part of Derwen College’s British Food Fortnight celebrations.
A luxury hamper put together by retail students, and featuring home-made produce made by students, was presented to Charlotte at the college.
Charlotte’s favourite dish was a Great British favourite - home-made chips. She gives them her own twist by loading with bacon, cheese, barbecue sauce, peppers and mushrooms.
“All Brits love chips and these have added extras,” she said of her recipe.
Charlotte and her children Bailey and Ava Wildman collected their hamper brimming with goodies made and sold by students at the college.
She said: “I entered because I love food and competitions! I chose my dish as it's a bit healthy but a bit naughty too with all the loaded toppings. I loved my hamper.”
During the fortnight, Derwen College’s Orangery Restaurant – which is open to the public daily from 10am-4pm ¬-- served up a series of classic British dishes.
British Food Fortnight was one of the wide range of events which are held at Derwen College’s commercial outlets including Garden Centre, Garden Café, and the Orangery Restaurant.
