Town parking
consultation
THE public can have their say on plans to boost the fortunes of town trade.
Oswestry Town Council has launched a consultation on proposals for free parking at its car parks from 6pm - 8am.
The consultation, which lasts until November 25, will also ask for views on replacing the one-hour tariff with am 80p charge for the first two-hours .
If introduced, the plans would affect Smithfield Street, Horsemarket and Central Car Park.
Councillor Duncan Kerr had proposed the idea as a way to boost the evening economy and encourage people to stay in the town centre for longer.
The idea, he told councillors, would also help alleviate parking problems in neighbouring streets.
The consultation can be completed electronically at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/YKKZ567
Questionnaires are available from the car parks, the Guildhall and the Oswestry Visitor Information and Exhibition Centre.
These questionnaires can be completed in situ or taken away to be completed and returned.
Results will be presented to the Finance and General Purposes Committee on Monday, December 3.
