ADRENALINE junkies in Ponciau have been given a crash course in BMX riding by an expert coach.

Martin 'Oggy' Ogden hosted sessions at the Ponciau Banks track for children aged up to 12 during their half-term holiday.

They received guidance on handling their bikes, cornering and jumping as well as an array of tricks under the tutelage of the three times British BMX Champion.

Mr Ogden, from Bradford, has been coaching youngsters at the track near Wrexham for the last seven years and he posted on his Instagram page: "When you wake up having that sinking feeling you should be somewhere today, how could I forget a Ponciau Banks half-term session.

"Mad rush, got there in the end and youths had fun on the bikes, so all's well that ends well."

His latest sessions were fully booked up with around 15 riders and Liz Carding, senior parks and countryside officer, said: “We try to do two or three sessions a year and they are very popular. Some of the children have been coming for years."

The BMX sessions have been funded by the Friends of Ponciau Banks and the countryside officer added: "We’re hoping to be able to carry it on because this is a full scale BMX track."
