North Shropshire dairy farmers supplying Müller will see their milk price decrease for December, going down to 28.5p per litre.
The Müller Direct standard litre price from December 1 will be 28.5ppl, down one pence per litre.
It comes as the dairy giant kept its milk price unchanged for three consecutive months.
Müller milk supply director, Rob Hutchison believes the move was necessary.
He said: “In the context of a sustained decline in returns from markets for cream and butter, a 3 per cent reduction in our farm gate milk is a proportionate response.
“Muller is a resilient business but we cannot ignore significant changes in markets we serve.
“We place importance on doing what we can to protect farmers from extreme market volatility.”
Mr Hutchison added: “That is why we have options in place for farmers who want to hedge against market movements including the Muller Direct Fixed Price Contract and the Muller Direct Futures Contract.”
