Firefighters were called out to a 'large unsupervised' bonfire near Berriew on Tuesday evening.
The crews from Welshpool and Montgomery arrived at a 'challenging incident' on a hillside above the village.
Montgomery Fire Station said when the crew arrived they found a large unsupervised bonfire. More fire appliances were called upon to tackle the blaze.
