POLICE are appealing for information after reports of a gun being discharged.
Wrexham rural police have made the appeal after armed officers responded to reports that a firearm had been discharged into the ground at the Green in Chirk around 11.10am this morning.
Enquires are ongoing to locate the man who had a dog with him.
Chief Inspector Mark Williams said: “I understand that this incident will have caused concern in the local area, but I want to reassure people that we responded to this report as a matter of urgency.
"Police officers have been in the area carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances of exactly what happened and we now believe this to have been an air weapon.
"Enquiries are ongoing and there is nothing to suggest at this time that the public should be concerned. I would to thank the local community for their assistance.”
