POLICE are encouraging children to not take part in anti-social behaviour during the Halloween period.

Sgt Neil Hughes of the South Flintshire policing team, said they have received funding to launch Operation Bang which will target four areas in Flintshire South.

The operation will be aimed mainly towards children to encourage them to take part in Halloween but not anti-social behaviour.

The Sgt told the Leader: "PCSO's are actively targeting the areas where we have had anti-social behaviour previously during Halloween and caused a great anxiety for people, in particular the elderly.

"You get aggressive Halloweeners targeting their addresses. We have already started, our four areas have been identified and officers will be active."

Officers will also be visiting local shops to remind them not to sell eggs and flour to children and will be handing out leaflets for residents to place on their windows and doors.

These leaflets will say if they do not want Trick or Treaters to knock on their doors and the Sgt is encouraging people to respect that decision.

The leaflets will be available at local pharmacies and local stores.
